Blood Ties is the 4th book in the Cartel Wars series, and it does not disappoint. This second-chance, kinda-enemies-to-lovers, dark romance has the perfect amount of heat and action. The story itself follows the arc set up in previous books, so while you can reach it alone, I don’t recommend it.
Miguel and Marcus were never meant to have it easy. They met under less than ideal circumstances. Both were deceived and tortured by people determined to keep them apart. But, love never follows the rules. Both men are a bit unhinged, eccentric, crazy in the best way. Miguel is dominant, a boss with a vindictive streak and a penchant for bright suits, only soft for Marcus. Marcus is ruthless, watching over his business and his sons, determined to avoid the one person who he can be himself with. While they are both being attacked from multiple angles, they must work together. I love how Miguel is pulling out all the stops to remind Marcus who he belongs to. Their chemistry is fire.
It was great seeing the MCs from the previous books, as well as getting a glimpse of future characters. Love the over-reaching story arc. Ashlynn Mills has done an amazing job with this series, and I’m eager to read whatever she writes next.

Happiness was always something too far out of my reach. I’d get close enough to stare it in the face right before it got ripped away from me. Miguel Jeventino will soon know what that feels like. My pain, my suffering, and all the tears I had shed years ago will all be his. Running a well-known Mexican Cartel is everything to him and once I burn it to the ground, he’ll have nothing left but ash. Hate was the only emotion to ever drive passion and strength in me. All love ever did was bring me to my knees. I can’t allow myself to fall again. Miguel will die before I let him near my heart.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Mine stopped beating years ago when I thought I lost the man I loved. Our relationship was forbidden, a disgrace to the Jeventino name. With the biggest threat gone, nothing will keep us apart now, not even him. Marcus Castaneda will fight but I will break down his walls until he’s begging to love me. Marcus is mine and he will learn the only place to run to is into his Papi’s arms. Just a little longer.
Blood Ties is an MM enemies to lovers Mafia romance. Some topics may be triggering for some readers so please head the warnings. These books should be read in order and aren’t stand alones.
