This is a fantastic collection of novellas all centered around hitchhikers who are stranded and need a ride. 17 authors contributed. I’ve picked a few of my faves to give a shout out.
Fool Proof is by AshlynnMills, who always comes up with some awesome stories. This is no exception. It’s a quick read novella. But, there is actually a lot of ground covered for such a short story. A bit of mystery mixed with a peek at medical kink. The two MCs have great chemistry. It’s definitely got some heat, but it’s also got some sweetness. I’d absolutely be interested in seeing the story expanded.
Daddy’s Princess is great little novella by Ashley Rayne. It’s soft and sweet, but it’s got heat for days. Liam is down on his luck when Gideon sees him on the side of the road. Daddy Gideon has had his eyes on Liam for a while, and it seems like fate is bringing them together. Ashley has a great style of writing, and I’d love to see what she does with this story with more time and plot.
No Such Thing is by Lee McCormick. Lee’s style of writing never fails to amaze me. The story itself is well-written. It felt complete, though I’d never turn down her expanding it into a longer book. Benji is the just the right amount of feisty and sweet. Warren balances him out well. It’s got the perfect blend of heat and humor.
Two Murder Peas by KL Hiers is an interesting take on a dark romance. As always, Hiers has created some fantastic characters. There is something interesting about each of them, with their little quirks. It’s definitely got spice!
Always Watching by Jacey Davis has a hint of the forbidden, Wild and his step dad Rey. The dialogue was done really well in this. Davis definitely brought the heat.
When You Come Back by Hinsel Meyer was one of the softer, sweeter stories in the collection. Loved the epilepsy representation. Seeing peeks at other characters made me want to go read Meyer’s other books.
Fly Your Flag, Even the Freak One by Layla Dorine had the best pacing of these little short stories, imo. The story itself is fun. Taz and Keely are both excellent characters, and their chemistry is fire from the start.
Call Me Daddy by Katy Manz is another sweeter story in the collection. The author did a great job with making the story believable. It’s a feel good romance with a bit of spice. Andrew and Dean are a cute pair that I would read more about.
Stolen Moments by Essie Sloane was a surprise for me. I don’t normally enjoy single pov as much as I did with this. I would still like to read Callum’s pov, but the story didn’t not feel like it was lacking without it. Sloane definitely brought the heat too!
Right Place, Right Time by Jem Wendal was interesting as I had never read a story where claustrophilia was the main kink. Jamie and Victor are great characters, and to thought the premise was clever. The story is low angst, mild heat, but it held my interest well.
The remaining stories were good, though maybe not my thing. A few had pacing issues. Or I just didn’t feel connected to the characters. Some were…just not very likable. I did appreciate that while most of the stories ended on more of a Hfn, none were blatant cliffhangers. And, the book is for charity, which is always a great thing!
