behind this orange, ominous view,
the warmth within
became foreboding,
more lovely terror
than light of promise
the walls are still crumbling
into splintered disdain
memory lane diverged
the path of hope
once uncovered
by a voice of reason
is overshadowed
by an evil unseen by too many
once, we were innocent,
but now our hearts ache
and our souls feel the pain
and we cannot keep placing
the things we don’t want
in cages
we cannot throw facts in lake sorrow
and expect not to drown
when the waters rise
do you hear our cries tonight?
or have you forgotten how to listen?
