bliss.

i wake on sheets
as soft as flower petals,
tulips and tiger lilies
pressed against bare skin
the day tastes like
orange blossom and amaretto,
sunbrushed summer
exploding on my tongue
and there is no waiting for love
see,
i prayed for heaven,
and it was delivered,
all warm skin and familiar eyes
and i
am high on the type of serene
that can’t be found in a bottle,
a moonstruck mellow only found
under midnight silver skies
painted by hands that speak
the language of devotion
and together,
we dance under a rain of poetry,
the clouds spilling sonnets
of two lovers
kissed by an ethereal grace

Bring Me Home

IMG_8456

I sometimes bottle things up,
pretend it’s okay
I leave feelings unclaimed
because I always thought
it was better that way
(they try, but people
don’t always understand)

but, here you are,
offering more,
shouldering the bad day,
the pulse of pain
that lurks deep within
(you make my scarlet heart
want to beat again)
so I breathe you in

people move mountains,
over the sound of a kiss
and soul searching eyes

you bring me home with yours

For Always

IMG_7204

There’s been too much
bittersweet,
our minds chasing problems
instead of holding on to each other

One day,
we’ll have time
to soak up the good,
moments spent loving
these hearts of ours
so concerned with comforting
We’ll watch suns set
and moons rise,
talk about all the good
in this darling life

Until then,
I’ll wish on stars and love songs,
while holding onto trust
and the sweet kiss of faith

And, we’ll burn bright,
you with me,
for always
